Department for European Integration and Policy Coordination

The Department for European Integration and Policy Coordination has the mission of achieving the compatibility of policies, plans and strategies within the scope of the Ministry, in accordance with government policies and the standards and strategic documents of the European Union.

The duties and responsibilities of the Department for European Integration and Policy Coordination are:

• Coordinates the drafting of relevant periodic plans of the Ministry in the field of European integration (NPISAA, ERA, PRE and similar);
• Coordinates the drafting of periodic plans and development documents of the work of the Government and the Ministry (PVPM, SPO and similar);
• Assists and advises in defining and setting the priorities of the Ministry, taking into account the obligations arising from the European integration process, as well as assists in the compliance of policies, plans and strategies with government policies and European Union standards;
• Monitors and reports on the implementation of the relevant periodic plans of the Ministry in the field of European integration and the periodic work plans of the Government and the Ministry;
• Coordinates and/or leads the work on the development of policy documents drafted by the administrative units of the Ministry, ensuring that these documents are in accordance and consistent with Government policies;
• Coordinates the work and provides contributions for the development of Government planning documents and provides assistance regarding their costing, in relation to the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and other strategic documents;
• Leads the coordination of IPA assistance and contributes to the implementation of the Ministry’s priorities and plans;
• Leads and/or coordinates regular meetings related to the European agenda within the scope of the Ministry; and
• Cooperates and assists administrative units in the Ministry in building staff and communication capacities on issues related to European integration, public policies and IPA within the scope of the Ministry.

The Director of the Department for European Integration and Policy Coordination reports to the Secretary General.

The Department includes the following divisions:

• Division for European Integration;
• Policy Coordination Division; and
• IPA Coordination Division.
