The Department of Social Schemes has the mission of developing social scheme policies and ensuring the implementation of social schemes aimed at supporting families and persons in social need, directly influencing the reduction of poverty and the increase of social welfare in general.
The duties and responsibilities of the Department of Social Schemes are:
Develops and drafts policies, policies, strategies in the field of social policies, social assistance and social benefits
Coordinates budget planning and management for social policy and social schemes
Prepares analyses, studies and research in the field of social policies, social benefit schemes and social inclusion
Implements policies and programs for social benefits for mothers, child allowances and other social benefits determined by normative acts of the Government or the Minister.
Manages cash benefit schemes for poor families and compensations for families with disabled children, child allowances, maternity payments and other social benefits, according to the requirements of the Ministry.
Plans the budget for financing schemes, programs and services managed by the Department
Develops the indicator framework for the collection of statistical data for the field of social policies and social welfare
Participates in capacity building for social services and designs counseling/mentoring programs for social care institutions and social work professionals.
Collaborates with stakeholders for the advancement and professional development and capacities of staff of public and non-governmental providers in the field of social schemes policies and social welfare in general.
Reviews the annual reports of the relevant municipal directorates and their annual work plans in the field of social schemes policies.
