The “Program for the Protection of Vulnerable Electricity Consumers in Kosovo 2026–2027” was approved during the fifth meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. The program plans for the allocation of approximately € 15 million to subsidize electricity bills for vulnerable consumers.
The program aims to support households within the social protection system and ensure equal access to electricity as an essential service by subsidizing energy costs for vulnerable consumers.
A decision outlining the eligibility conditions and criteria is expected to be signed in the coming days, paving the way for the imminent launch of the application process. The program focuses on financial support through electricity bill subsidies, representing one of the most direct ways to assist vulnerable consumers.
The Republic of Kosovo has also assumed obligations within the framework of the European integration process and the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which envisages the development of sustainable mechanisms for identifying and supporting vulnerable consumers, including the creation and maintenance of a functional registry of vulnerable consumers.
