Pensions Department

The Pensions Department’s mission is to draft public policies for the realization of pension rights and other benefits from pension and disability insurance, including war veterans, as well as the coordination and implementation of state-funded pension schemes through its local branches.

The duties and responsibilities of the Pensions Department are:

• Develops policies for the pension, disability, and war veterans systems.
• Develops pension system policies in accordance with international standards
• Ensures a long-term sustainable pension and disability system, for greater economic security for beneficiaries of pension and disability rights, the disabled, as well as categories emerging from the war
• Develops analyses, long-term financial projections and programs as an expert base for defining and implementing pension and disability insurance policy.
• Directly supervises the implementation of normative acts within the scope of the Department, and the work of local branches
• Leads the procedures for the return of funds withdrawn for the period during which the benefit from the scheme was not made in accordance with the legislation in force.
• Administers pension and disability schemes, including pension schemes for war veterans, as defined by the relevant legislation in force.
• Coordinates budget planning and management for pensions and other benefits
• Manages pension payments to beneficiaries from pension and disability schemes
• Manages and maintains records and statistics for pension payments to beneficiaries from pension and disability schemes
• Ensures the implementation of procedures for the realization of pension rights for Kosovo citizens who have worked abroad and vice versa
• Maintains documentation for all expenses related to pension distribution
• Drafts regular periodic reports in the field of pensions
• Monitors the implementation of strategies and action plans

The Director of the Pensions Department reports to the Secretary General.

The Department includes the following divisions:
